Trane Furnace System Lockout
At least now i have a way to reset the lockout.
Trane furnace system lockout. At least the instructions with the new board are a little better than what i had with the first one. Gas and oil home heating furnaces trane xl 80 system lockout. My trane furnace is flashing the 2 red light system lockout code. The system did the same thing tried twice to turn on but we still do not have 24v at the red and gray wires going into the top of the gas control.
Since our hvac system is in our laundry room i understand that lint may cause some issues with the sensor. All furnaces need to have adequate ventilation and a dirty air filter can cause a system lockout to occur. It does this every year. This condition is known as lock out.
After about 1 3 minutes the fan motor begins to run and delivers heat through the duct system. It then went into lockout. We also do not have an outside air source however we always keep the laundry room door open for better airflow. Three flashes on the trane furnace control board means that the vent pressure is too high or too low which then activates the pressure switch and causes a lockout.
Then reset the furnace. When i try to start up the system it shows normal heat call on the circuit board. I ignites about six. About 10 seconds after the hot igniter starts to glow the gas comes.
The furnace will go into lockout sometime in the next 24 hours. Check all incoming and outgoing vents on the furnace air system including on the furnace and clear away anything that may be blocking the air flow. For example a clogged air filter may prevent an adequate supply of air from entering the system s cold air return that causes the heat exchanger limit switch to trip. After 2 weeks of working well the furnace started having the same lock out issues after 3 attempts to light.
Most furnace lock outs are caused by problems with igniters flame sensors and limit switches. I have a trane xl 80 system. Unfortunately this year i am on my own and don t know what to do.
