Transit Door Handle Not Working
This is due to the battery dieing.
Transit door handle not working. Put it back into the door panel and test the window. The outside door handle attatches to the door latch by a metal rod that is clipped into a retainer that it attached to the latch. In order to replace the window regulator you need to take the door panel off by removing the armrest bolts and door handle screws. Use pliers or a utility knife making sure to not cut into the black rubber sleeve on the cable.
Just don t damage the water shield. 3 remove broken plastic cable ferrule. Sounds complicated but isn t really. The door handle no longer moves the tongue far enough.
2 remove the cable from the latch mechanism. This is a symptom of a low battery that is going to require keypad replacement. If there is a problem you may see excessive play in the window as if it has slipped off track. You will have to remove the drivers door panel to look inside the door near the handle and make sure the rod is still attached.
There will be no illumination on the keypad. A mechanic can often tell by the sound whether the problem lies with the fuse the power door lock switch or the power door lock actuator. You have to remove the interior panels to expose a hole in the sheet metal through which you detach the handle. When you enter the keypad code your system may unlock the driver s side door then lock it and then unlock it again.
After determining the problem with the system the malfunctioning piece will be replaced. The plastic retainer may have opened up and allowed the rod to drop off the latch. Change out the battery on the keyless entry remote control if the car is not responding to the buttons you press. 1 remove cable assembly from door.
Your window glass is secured in place by the window regulator. You ll need tools to remove various sizes of star washers 10 20 and 30 if i recall.
